This is my video of how i do pleating, i made this video to show how i did each section of my final piece :)

i really like the organic form of this piece, i like how it just looks like something out of nature, i would like my final piece to form something that is very natural.

Experimenting

 the above and below picture are my pleating then hollowed out, i like this  and think it has a really nice effect, however i don't really like the affect when it starts to get linked together, i think it looks nice as a small piece but i don't really like it when it is put up to a bigger scale, i prefer the solid form when it is blown up big, like my final piece.

 The piece below is a piece that i spent a lot of time on, trying to figure out if i could change the pleating to make it have larger pleats one end ad then smaller pleats at the other end, i liked the affect that it had but the whole piece fit together a lot better and attractively look better, so i enjoyed doing it but have decided against it.

 The piece above and below was me experimenting how adding a little colour, i think that it doesn't have as big of a impact as the plain paper does that allows for more intense shadow and i believe emphasizes the mountains and valley's very well.

 the piece above and below is another attempt at hollowing out and  making the structure skeletal , i dont think the effect is as great again when done with a coloured piece of paper.

 The three pieces below i really really like, however i do not believe that they really fit in with the title of the brief, i dont think that they are good enough to be a sculpture piece, i think it just looks to playful and not really professional enough for this brief.

 when the piece above and the piece below are compared i prefer the bottom one, however i do also like the one above, the above piece i like because it looks fun and lively but i don't think that it will suit the style of the brief, the piece below i really like, however when i put the two of them together as a large structure i didn't really think that it worked as well or was as much of a impact piece as when it was whole.

Decision time

Ihave decided that for my final peice i am going to use pleating so i have been playing around with pleating to see what effects i can get ....

 After pleating the picture above and below are after i pleated having a play with it to see weather hollowing it out would make a difference to its effect and see what it looks like. i tried a hole, a window and a perfect cut out. i liked the affect it had but not sure how it would be on large scale, however i know that i would like to pleat my final piece as i really like the affect that it has.

 The piece below is pleating that i did at a angle, this had a unusual affect on the paper it gave it this angular kind of look which i quite liked but, i tried to add it on the end of another piece and i didn't really like how it tapered off, i preferred how it looked with a flat edge, i really think that it looks better more linear.

This is the kind of pleating that i would like to use.... valley and mountain folds to make a kind of pleat that looks like a mountain range... this is what i am going to base my work on.

i like the form of this piece again i think it looks really organic and that is one of the things i really like about the forms that the pleated peices can take, i am going to use a twist or a bend in my final piece in order to make it look more interesting and more organic
