Realised just befor hand in i had'nt posted this blogger post.

All of the images that you can see here where my greatest influences and if you take the time to look at my work you will see why, the mountain ranges represent mostly all of my work in the repetitive way, the pure beauty of the mountain ranges is something that i really love and what i was trying to get across with my paper project. i think that how i pleated the paper looked very like the mountain range and the bark of a tree, if you also look at the blue bells and the old tree you should see some influences of them throughout my experimentation in the sense of trying to achieve natural forms and get something out of the paper that almost looked unpaper like.

Final word befor hand in.

I believe that i have worked very hard in this project to produce two pieces that are worthy of the brief, however through doing this i think that most of my development work and experimentation cannot be found in my sketchbook or even really on this blog as i preferred to be hands on folding and cutting paper and finding out what i could do with it and how i could make it work to my advantage, i believe that most of my design process has happened through my experimentation with paper.

Peace out... speak soon guys :D x

This work, by this artist is also pieces of work that i really enjoyed looking through this work and it really inspired me to do my work and really helped me in what i was doing.

Inspiration

This Flickr site by Richard Sweeney has become one of my main influences throughout this project, there are many pieces in my blog that have some off this website a lot of this work has helped my come to the conclusions that i have come too, this work is basically exactly what i aimed to achieve in my first piece of work

however throughout my second task i don't think that it was as easy to find anything like my work, it is very original that i really enjoyed.

My final poster idea/piece (not poster photography yet)

This is my final piece, i decided to really go for it with colour and different paper techniques that can be used :)
i think that you can seill see what its all about and that it shows how paper can really be used and how versatile it really is.
i think that lighting is going to become very important when it comes to the poster shots of this piece.

More experimenting and thinking about what i can do for a final piece with task 2...

this was me experimenting with slitting paper to see the kind of effects it has.
i turned the piece on its head, then i tried playing around with it to see what i could getout of it, however i dont think it is good enough to go into my final piece.
I love this piece i tried folding different colours through each other to see what comes out and i really like this piece and that that it will fit in well with my final piece so i will try and see what happens. i think that is really gives a nice image of paper and barely looks like paper at times.
The piece above and the two pieces below, i quite like them i think that it is a interesting piece and gives off a good illusion, i dont really think that it looks like something that people can do with a piece of paper but i think that it looks really good, i am gonna try it in my final piece but i am not sure how well it will fit in.
The piece above and below i wanted to know what else i could do and what other effects i could get out of pleating paper, and i really really like the effect it has, i like that if you pleat it then you can get the effect that you have cut bits out when in fact you actually haven't.
This is my first poster idea, i have done a mock up just to see what it looks like from different angles, i think that it looks pretty cool but dont feel that it does the diversity of paper justice, although it has a nice shadow effect and it would look good all done, with the right pictures, angles, lighting and colours, i do not feel that it is good enough to use as my final piece or vibrant enough.
This is more experimenting with strips of paper to see what kind of effects i can get out of it, i like how it looks and how you cant really tell what is happening within the piece however i cant really see a way that i can fit this into my work.
This is more of the cross fold pleating that i have done previously but this time i did it just with the same colour to see what effect it could have, i prefer it done with 2 different colours i think it looks more fun and exciting , the best thing about this piece is it doesnt take long yet its still very effective i feel.
I was going to try making all letters out of nets and then photographing them all, i came across a problem with this method, when the pieces are done big they take up alot of room and also tend to waste alot of paper, and would be very very hard to photograph so many large letters, however when i did them small letters like S and G where very hard to do effectively and often looks messy and i couldnt really complete them properly or effectively as much as i tried so i moved off this idea
The piece above and below i have done all the way through this project the idea of pleating, it is by a mile my favourite effect with paper, i like how it looks and think that it is really effective, i think that the photo below looks a bit better for it then the one above due to angles used ect, i think that it does look really good, but i feel like i want to explore a different piece of work and even if it doesnt turn out as well i am just going to be happy that i tried something new.

my research and influences for my poster :)

i am sure you all know what fireworks look like but i want to use them as influence they are just so lively and so much fun and most of all catch peoples eye, thats what i need my piece to do, when i think of eye catching the first thing i think of is a firework :D
i like this peice also the problem being that i want to make it my own and make it more then just looking like the paper is bursting through uniformly, i want to make it very unique and very lively.
images like this helped inpire me for this piece of work, and made me want to do something really different from my first piece of work.
this piece also helped with what i wanted to do with the look of things coming pretty much out of nowhere out of a flat piece of paper.
This is one of the pieces that made me like the idea of stuff exploding out of a page.
i like the bright colours and how it looks just so effective, what i like about this piece is the 'fantasy' element of it, that inside that single piece of paper is something trying to burst out and we can clearly see that there is nothing the other side and we all know how it could be done but at the same time it makes you think for a minute.

After the first task in this project i wanted to do something which was more representative of me, and the wide variety of things you can do with paper also, i wanted to inject colour into this piece, and immediately thought about fireworks. so i used them as some influences but then also looks at the past work i had donein task one to see if i could advance at all on any of that work.
